Thursday 3rd October saw four of our Year 6 children take part in a Boccia Competition in Daventry. The children played in a league basis and improved with each game, winning two and loosing narrowly in three games. We saved our best till last, winning our final place game 9-1 and finished in 9th place. The children had an enjoyable afternoon and think they have learnt a lot if they were to play again. Well done to Oakley, Logan, Jack D and Harrison H.
Welcome to Boothville Primary Sports Blog 2024-2025
We believe that it is important for children to take part in a range of both competitive and non-competitive sports and for everyone to be able to achieve their own personal goals. Through competition and challenge we want pupils to be able to celebrate the occasions when they are successful, whilst realising that teamwork and fair play has a key role to play in not only the sporting world but also their own lives.
Children are encouraged to take part in extracurricular sessions, Sports Leader lead games, kids marathon, school house competitions or sports clubs. Before and after school sports clubs run every day and are led by sports coaches, where we encourage and support children to become involved. As well as these opportunities, Boothville take part in competitions and Festivals against other schools in the local area. This allows the children the opportunity to put skills learnt during lessons or at our after-school clubs into practise and also gives them the opportunity to make links with outside clubs in the local area.
We work closely with Northamptnshire Sport , Northampton Saints, M.A.B Academy Gymnastics and Pacesetters to allow our children to develop skills in individual sports and pathways to clubs outside of school.
We took a team of our Year 5 to the NSport Girls ‘Takeover Rugby’ Festival on Wednesday 2nd October. It was kindly held at a very wet soggy Northampton Casuals Rugby club. Children worked in groups improving their rugby skills, followed by a couple of 'friendly' fixtures using the skills learnt. All the coaches were girls and were excellent role models. Well done to Daria B, Remi W, Miriam G, Elyse D, Emilia W, Aoife ON, Emily F, Georgia F and Amber L who were all excellent.
