Year 1 have been spending some time learning all about plants. We have taken part in a variety of activities from planting our own bean plants to observing plants growing during Spring. We have immersed ourselves in our learning and have become mini experts! We enjoyed reading Jack and the Beanstalk and this inspired us to design and create our own magical bean plants. Our imaginations ran wild and our special plants were able to grow teddies, create thunderstorms and make money! Have a look at some of the wonderful magical plants we created!

We have had a wonderful time this year designing, creating and evaluating some brilliant projects in our Design and Technology lessons!
Puppet Pandemonium
First we enjoyed designing, making and evaluating our own worry monster puppets. We have also had fun being inspired by existing puppets and have been using a puppet theatre to make up stories. Take a look at some of our wonderful creations below. We hope that the children have enjoyed showing them to you at home also!
Wonderful Windmills
Following this we designed a windmill for a mouse to live in. We enjoyed listening to the song ‘Windmill in old Amsterdam’.
We then considered what Mr Mouse might like on his windmill. Some of us decorated with lovely patterns, cute creatures like ladybirds and butterflies and some of us even included some yummy cheese! We carefully copied our designs onto the net pieces for our windmill and then cut and assembled these to complete our 3D model! Take a peek at some of our fabulous work below!
