During Number Day this year, we questioned why do we need to learn about Number and Mathematics? So, Year 3 investigated how Mathematics is used in different careers.
We learnt that over 70% of jobs have an element of Mathematics involved and even if you don’t have a job you still need Mathematics to calculate your personal finances to budget and pay your bills.
The children investigated how many different Maths skills different careers used, the time it takes to train in a specific career, the average hours you would need to work per week and the salary you would receive for a specific job role.
With the information, the children created ‘Job Role Top Trump cards’ and were challenged to investigate other job roles that they aspired to do when they are older.
